American Legion Modesto Post 74
School Medal Award
The American Legion annually recognizes the outstanding 8th grade boy and girl graduate from each of the 15 Junior High/Middle School in the Modesto area.
This award is a medal that highlights students who demonstrate the six core ideals: Courage, Honor, Leadership, Patriotism, Scholarship, and Service. It's the highest honor a local American Legion post gives to youth, signifying they possess qualities foundational to the nations's principles.
An awards dinner will be held May 2, 2026 at the Stanislaus Veterans Center starting at 5:00 pm. Come join us. Tickets will be available soon.
Oratorical Contest
The American Legion Oratorical Contest exists to develop deeper knowledge and appreciation for the U.S. Constitution among high school students. Young orators earn some of the most generous college scholarships available to high school students. The overall national contest winner gets a $25,000 scholarship. Second place takes home $22,000 and third gets $20,000. For more information, click here www.legion.org
Continued Service
Our dedicated group of veterans span all eras and conflicts. We continue to serve in our local community by remembering those who served before us, sponsoring youth programs, and playing an active role in our community events especially those that promote patriatisom.

We are a congressionally chartered veterans organization which has been serving this community for over 100 years. At American Legion Modesto Post 74 we are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for veterans and their families. When you choose us, you become part of our community.
Breakfast Every Third Saturday of the month
TheAmerican Legion hosts a full service breakfast from 7:00 to 11:00 am. Made to order omelets, sausages, hash browns and other items. Come join us.
